ELLE WINFIELD is a PhD student focusing on forensic entomology. She is a Virginia native who received her B.S. in Biology from Hampton University in 2020 and a M.S. in Forensic Science from George Mason University in 2022. While at George Mason, she completed a master’s thesis project focused on comparing the attraction of carrion flies to physically or chemically altered carcasses. After obtaining her M.S., Elle completed a 2-year fellowship at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Silver Spring, Maryland, where she gained experience in vector control strategies with various mosquito and sandfly species. In the FLIES Facility, Elle’s research is focused on building a larval collection table to study the phenotypic response of carrion flies to carcasses of different sizes.
