Kelly Beskin

kelly-smallerKELLY BESKIN is a M.S. student in the FLIES Facility advised by Dr. Jeff Tomberlin. She received her B.S.E.S. in Entomology from the University of Georgia in 2013. Her research will seek to identify the volatile compounds emitted from material decomposed by black soldier fly larvae, Hermetia illucens (Diptera: Stratiomyidae). She is also interested in conducting behavioral research examining how black soldiers flies subsequently react to these compounds. She is interested in the roles insect play in public health and exploring the positive impacts that such detritivores can have in developing nations.
