Noah Lemke

Noah Lemke playing a guitarNOAH LEMKE is a PhD student and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow in the FLIES Facility. He received his MSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago. His prior experiences include cataloging carrion-associated arthropods within a tallgrass prairie, as well as modeling intracohort cannibalism among juvenile Schizocosa ocreata. His PhD research will center on characterizing elements of “lekking” behavior of Hermetia illucens to (1) understand which factors affect mating success and fertile egg production for the food and feed industry, and (2) determine the suitability of the black soldier fly as a surrogate model for other lekking insects.
